WhatsApp removes profile photo save option, iPhone app gets sticker preview in Notifications

Whatsapp is seen removing the feature of saving profile pictures of contacts. This change was spotted in the latest WhatsApp beta versions for Android. The change will also be a part of the WhatsApp Business beta for iPhone version 2.19.60.5. Apart from that, WhatsApp has also added a feature of preview of stickers in Notification Center for its iPhone app users. It also lets the users to long-tap on a WhatsApp notification to view the received sticker in full size. And to remind you WhatsApp is also trying to bring night mode or dark mode for its users.

It was first reported by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has removed the possibility to save profile pictures in the latest Android beta updates and WhatsApp Business beta for iOS 2.19.60.5.

whatsapp android beataBefore WhatsApp had a share button when we view profile pictures of contacts. And when we tap on it we get an option to save that picture or share it directly. But now the share button is not there, as we confirmed on WhatsApp Beta for Android version 2.19.143. However, the feature to save the profile picture still exists for WhatsApp groups. Now, If you want to save a profile picture you can still use your phones screenshot option.

Earlier this week, WhatsApp was spotted testing Night Mode for the app which is likely to help users reduce eye strain. However, Night mode is still not available for even the newer beta builds for Android. We can still expect WhatsApp to release that update soon.

To check the latest features, you can download the latest WhatsApp Beta for Android version from Google Play store or download the APK file from sites like APK Mirror and install on your phone.

It seems that WhatsApp is trying hard to enhance their overall user experience. And, we can’t wait to see what new features will WhatsApp try to bring on the table.
