First-person shooter games are specialized on gun and other weapon-based combat in a first-person perspective i.e. the player experiences the action through the eyes of the combatant. It shares common traits with other shooter games, which in turn makes it fall under the heading action game. Since its inception, advanced 3D and pseudo-3D graphics have challenged hardware development, and multiplayer gaming has been integral.
 The first-person shooter games have been traced as far back as Maze War, development of which began in 1973, and 1974’s Spasm. Later, and after more playful titles like MIDI Maze in 1987, the genre coalesced into a more violent form with 1992’s Wolfenstein 3D.

First Person Shooter Titanfall 2

Titanfall 2 is a first-person shooter video game, developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts. A sequel to 2014’s Titanfall, the game was released worldwide on October 28, 2016, for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. In Titanfall 2, players control Titans, mecha-style exoskeletons and their pilots, who are agile and equipped with a variety of skills ranging from wall-running to cloaking.

The game’s two-year development cycle began in mid-2014. The decision to add a single-player campaign to the game came about because the team wanted to expand the game’s player base. They came up with different ideas and prototypes and integrated them to form a single coherent campaign.

2. Battlefield V

Battlefield V is a first-person shooter video game developed by EA DICE and published by Electronic Arts, and the seventeenth installment in the Battlefield series. It will be released worldwide for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on November 20, 2018. The game will continue on from its precursor Battlefield 1 by focusing on World War II. The game sold 7.3 million copies by the end of 2018 but was a commercial disappointment for Electronic Arts. Battlefield V received generally favorable reviews from critics, being praised for its gameplay but criticized for its shortage of content at launch and lack of innovation.

Black Ops 4 is a sequel to the 2015 game Call of Duty: Black Ops III and will be the fifth entry in the Black Ops subseries, and the 15th main installment in the Call of Duty series overall. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is a multiplayer first-person shooter video game. Unlike previous titles in the Call of Duty series, Black Ops 4 is the first entry to note feature of a traditional single-player campaign and contains only Multiplayer, Zombies and Blackout.

Black Ops 4 is the first Call of Duty title without a traditional single-player campaign mode. Instead, it features the Solo Missions mode, which focuses on the backstories of the game’s multiplayer characters, known as “Specialists”. The missions take place between Black Ops II and III chronologically. Some of the Specialists also carried over from Black Ops III. The multiplayer mode is the first in the series to not feature automatic health regeneration and introduces both predictive recoil and a new ballistics system. The game included three Zombies maps on release day. The game also introduced a battle royale mode called Blackout, which features up to 100 players in each match.

4. SUPERHOT

Superhot is an independent first-person shooter video game developed and published by Superhot Team. The game is presented in a minimalist art style, with enemies in red and weapons in black, in contrast to the otherwise white and grey environment. The core gameplay revolves around you picking up different weapons from the environment and using them to get rid of the red humanoid shapes. Every hit is a one-shot kill, be that a bullet or a katana-slice. The same goes for you. Once you complete the main storyline, you unlock Challenge mode and Endless mode and can continue trying-out various methods to survive.

The game originated as an entry in the 2013 7 Day FPS Challenge, which Superhot Team expanded into a browser-based demonstration that September. Widespread attention from the demonstration prompted the team to develop out the full game, using Kickstarter to secure funding to complete the title. Superhot was released for Microsoft Windows, OS X, and Linux on February 2016. Versions for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch were released in May 2016, July 2017, and August 2019, respectively.

5. Far Cry 5

Far Cry 5 is a first-person shooter video game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and Ubisoft Toronto and published by Ubisoft for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It is the eleventh installment and the fifth main title in the Far Cry series. It was released on March 27, 2018

The game takes place in Hope County, a fictional region of Montana, United States. The main story revolves around the Project at Eden’s Gate, a doomsday cult that has taken over the county at the command of its charismatic and powerful leader, Joseph Seed. Players control an unnamed junior deputy sheriff who becomes trapped in Hope County and must work alongside factions of a resistance to liberate the county from the despotic rule of the Seeds and Eden’s Gate.

Gameplay focuses on combat and exploration; players battle enemy soldiers and dangerous wildlife using a wide array of weapons. The game features many elements found in role-playing games, such as a branching storyline and side quests. The game also features a map editor, a co-operative multiplayer mode, and a competitive multiplayer mode.

6. Bulletstorm

Bulletstorm is a first-person shooter video game developed by Polish developer People Can Fly and the American company Epic Games, and is published by Electronic Arts for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows. The game was released on February 22, 2011, in North America and on February 25, 2011, in Europe.

The game is distinguished by its sense of style and crass humor as well as excessive violence and profanity, rewarding players with points for performing increasingly ludicrous and creative kills. Bulletstorm does not have any competitive multiplayer modes, preferring instead to include cooperative online play as well as score attack modes.

Upon release, the game received positive reviews from critics who praised the game’s voice acting, characters, graphics, action, soundtrack, humor, and storyline but has amassed a great deal of controversy following its release. Bulletstorm was a commercial failure for both Epic Games and Electronic Arts. A remastered version with updated 4K textures and all the DLCs, Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition published by Gearbox Software, was released on April 7, 2017, for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Steam. A Nintendo Switch version, with all previous DLC included, titled Bulletstorm: Duke of Switch Edition was released on August 30, 2019.

It is the third installment in the Metro video game series based on Dmitry Glukhovsky’s novels. It is a first-person shooter game with survival horror and stealth elements. Set in the post-apocalyptic wasteland of the former Russian Federation, the player must cope with the new hazards and engage in combat against mutated creatures as well as hostile humans. The player wields an arsenal of hand-made weaponry which can be customized through scavenging materials and a crafting system.

The next game in the franchise, Battlefield V, was announced on May 23, 2018, and was released on November 20, 2018.

It was released on May 2016 for Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One and a port for the Nintendo Switch will be released on October 2019. Overwatch assigns players into two teams of six, with each player selecting from a roster of over 30 characters, known as “heroes,” each with a unique style of play that is divided into three general roles that fit their purpose. Players on a team work together to secure and defend control points on a map or escort a payload across the map in a limited amount of time. Players gain cosmetic rewards that do not affect gameplay, such as character skins and victory poses, as they play the game.
