Samsung unveiled its most awaited foldable smartphone today, at the company’s Galaxy Unpacked event. The phone’s name is Samsung Galaxy Fold. The company also revealed more about the smartphone and its unique features. They packed the phone with so much power and awesomeness that it often feels like happening magic.
The new Galaxy Fold is expected to have two screens: a 4.6-inch, HD+ Super AMOLED outer display with a 21:9 aspect ratio, at the top; and a 7.3-inch, Infinity Flex display with a 4.2:3 aspect ratio, which appears upon unfolding along with rounded corners. The Galaxy Fold opens up like a book, and when unfolded it looks like two phones stuck together, due to which the phone may turn out be thicker. As revealed by Samsung: the two foldable parts are connected by a sophisticated hinge system consisting of multiple interlocking gears, which the help in folding and unfolding the device smoothly.
The Fold packs a powerful phone and a tablet altogether. It is powered by unnamed 7nm 64-bit octa-core processor coupled with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage onboard and for the first time on a mobile device, it supports UFS 3.0. The Fold has two batteries with a total capacity of 4380mAh, providing it a whole lot of power.
In terms of camera, the Fold has a pack of 6 cameras, 3 on the back, 2 on the inside, and 1 in the front which lets you capture image from every angle.
The Fold has some unique features: a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. It also supports 3-App multitasking. It supports “App Continuity” which lets you switch between screens efficiently. For instance, if you are viewing a facebook post on the smaller screen you can simply unfold it to directly view it on the larger screen. As revealed, the Fold runs a special version of Android Pie.
The Galaxy fold will be available from April 26, for around $1980 US Dollars. The Samsung Fold will be available in two Models: a 5G model and an LTE model. And it would be available in Space Silver, Cosmos Black, Martian Green, and Astro Blue colors.
