This is Xiaomi’s first Android Go smartphone in entry level segment, and Xiaomi is saying it has many first in segment features which other phones in this segment misses out. There is not much competition for this phone, the one phone in this segment which comes close to this phone is ASUS ZenFone Lite L1.
Redmi Go: Specifications
Xiaomi’s most affordable smartphone sports a 5 inch HD display with 720×1280 resolution. It’s a dual SIM (nano-SIM) phone with dedicated MicroSD Card slot(expandable upto 128 GB). This smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor and Adreno 308 GPU with 1 GB of RAM. As of storage options, there are two variants 1 GB RAM/8 GB internal storage and 1 GB RAM/16 GB internal storage.
But as of now only the 1 GB RAM/8GB internal storage variant will be available in India. There is no clarification for another variant. Redmi Go comes with Android Oreo 8.1 out of the box, and will definitely get Android Pie 9.0 in coming days as its an Android Go smartphone.
In camera department, Redmi Go has 8 MP rear camera (f/2.0) with a single LED flash, the camera is capable of recording 1080p videos. HDR mode, real time filters, smart scene detection feature is also present.
On the other hand, Redmi Go has 5 MP front camera (f/2.2) with HDR functionality which the company is saying is first in entry level segment. Front flash is missing from this phone, this is a disappointment as others provide a front flash in under Rs. 5000. Also there is no confirmation if it has screen flash in place of front LED flash.
It also gets dual mic setup with noise cancellation. Redmi Go doesn’t miss out on standard sensors as it has ambient light sensor, proximity sensor and accelerometer. It misses out on LED notification light which Xiaomi gives in their almost every phone.
As of battery, Redmi Go has 3000 mAh battery with 10 days standby time. However, there is no fast charging or any special battery stuff as it’s a entry level phone.
On the connectivity side, Redmi Go has 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, standard Micros USB port and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. However, Redmi Go doesn’t support dual 4G, only one SIM can be used for 4G at a time.
Packing all these features the Redmi Go is quite a light phone at 137 grams and it measures 140.4×70.1×8.35mm.
